Progesterone and AI ... Tuesday, 3/7/23

Hey y'all, it has been a bit busy over the last few days! I worked in the ER this past weekend AND it was a full moon weekend! Needless to say, I was exhausted by Sunday midnight! Normally, my husband lets me sleep in on the follow Monday and he handles all of the dog chores but not this Monday. Between health checks on the girls and progesterone testing, there was no downtime available. When I got home from taking Betty for her progesterone test, my husband had some fencing laid out and needed help putting it up. (I admit, I asked to him to have it ready to go when I got home). Now we have separation between the boys upstairs and the girls downstairs and everyone can be outside at the same time enjoying this beautiful spring weather. This heat cycle, we went the extra mile to ensure the girls and boys remain happy while being segregated. Plus, the new arrangement helps keep the stress level of the dogs down which helps tremendously with reproduction!

Pepper has started eating like normal again so I am very relieved. She seems her normal self but tired out quickly last night. I am taking that little behavior change as she is pregnant. She is also less "bitchy" and irritable which makes for a happy girl! Today, I made her appointment for the pregnancy ultrasound. It is scheduled for 3/29/23 and I will do a preliminary ultrasound at home about a week prior. Fingers crossed for Pepper puppies!

Betty had her progesterone tested 4 times now. Poor thing was less than pleased to see the vet techs this morning but she loves riding in the truck so it evens itself out. Her progesterone level yesterday showed she was ovulating and was the perfect time for AI. Gold Country Pugs was notified and they collected samples and had them shipped off that afternoon. I am so appreciative they acted so quickly to enable to AI! The vets office called and let me know the samples had arrived this morning and off we went to have Betty AI'd. Her progesterone was tested and was again perfect for AI. After approx. 30 minutes, Betty and I were back in the truck heading for home. I am so appreciative of Cohutta Animal Clinic for all that they have done with our program!
